Royal Air Force Museum Hosts 90th Anniversary Celebrations
On the evening of Tuesday 1st April the Trustees of the Royal Air Force Museum held a VVIP banquet for the Royal Air Force at the London site.

At 1900hrs a BBMF Spitfire piloted by Squadron Leader Al Pinner did a flypast across the Museum site. This was closely followed by a formation of nine Eurofighter Typhoons.

On April 1st, the Museum was fortunate enough to host a reporter from the One Show live at our London site. To view this report and our facilities, and to learn how it feels to fly our latest acquisition the Typhoon DA2, go to www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer and select the One Show broadcast on 1st April.

Two New Exhibitions Added To Navigator Online Collection.
As part of our commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force the Museum's Department of Collection Management has posted 2 new online exhibitions in our Navigator site - Distinguished Flying Cross Medals and the Royal Flying Corps.

The Distinguished Flying Cross was instituted on 3rd June 1918 by King George V. After the Victoria Cross and the George Cross, this decoration represents the highest honour for gallantry issued to Royal Air Force Personnel. In total the Museum holds 150 examples of this medal a selection of which are now included online.

The Royal Flying Corps was a unit of the British Army formed on 13 March 1912. Despite initial scepticism, the RFC provided invaluable reconnaisance support for the British Army during the 1st World War. Here you can find photography of these pioneering young men at work, rest and play.

Our New Typhoon Cooks Up A Storm!
The Royal Air Force Museum has become the first museum in the UK to take delivery of the Eurofighter Typhoon. The aircraft, a prototype DA2, was successfully delivered to the Museum on Monday 21st January and is now on display in the Milestones of Flight Exhibition, suspended from the ceiling in a dramatic pose. The previous replica aircraft, which has been on display since 2003, will be erected on a pole out of doors at the front of the Museum. Watch out on the web for further updates.
Plan a day out at Hendon, RAF Museum London...
Come and enjoy our extensive and exciting interactive area - Aeronauts. This is the hands-on part of the Museum designed for children from 10 years to 100! Children and adults will learn much about how aircraft fly and a range of associated aviation topics. Attempt to drop a package from a large transport plane onto a small patch of ground; experience the weight-shift method of controlling a hang-glider; discover some secrets of helicopter flight and test your aptitude to be a top fighter pilot.

Over 40 specially commissioned interactive units explore how the properties of air, forces, light, electricity, materials and the human brain relate to flight. With real and simulated cockpits to sit in; a six-metre section of a Dakota aircraft and the chance to push, blow, test, feel, pull, judge, plug, watch, balance, try out and get involved, the Aeronauts Interactive centre is a place to both learn and have fun.
